The most common way butterflies are released is from individual personalized paper release envelopes passed out to the guests and/or wedding bridal party. Releasing the butterflies individually like this is a more personal experience for everyone. We also offer organza containers or hanging cages for mass release and display if this is preferred (scroll down page for info). Combination of container/hanging cage and release envelopes for guests is also available.

Each butterfly is inside a triangular envelope. The butterfly release envelopes are hand folded and designed to protect the butterflies from harm until released. Our release envelopes are made of heavier 24 lb. paper stock and are three dimensional along the bottom to provide extra width in the envelope base to accomodate the body of the butterfly. The envelopes are folded over the top on two sides to keep the butterfly confined until opened at the appropriate moment by simply unfolding the paper, releasing the butterfly. When passing the butterflies out, the envelopes are best held just above the butterfly logo at the top where the two folds meet.
The butterflies inside their release envelopes will arrive packaged in a presentable simple white box or several boxes depending on the size of the order. The boxe(s) are shipped inside a larger shipping carton with an ice pack to keep the butterflies cool during shipping.

The above example is for a wedding, but the butterfly release envelopes may be customized for any event and business logos may be incorporated if desired. Personalized release envelopes are included in the cost of the butterflies. For containers or cages featured below, we utilize a clear glassine envelope for shipment of the butterflies which are easier to use when placing butterflies into container or cage.

The containers are made of sheer white, see-through organza
material on a very sturdy white wire frame.
The container
lid has a hand-made white organza rose in the center.
6 x 6 x 6-inch organza container is suitable for 6 to18
monarch butterflies or Florida native mixture
or up to two
dozen painted lady butterflies.
$24.95 each.
8 x 8 x 8-inch organza container is suitable for 24-48 monarch
butterflies or Florida native mixture
or up to 60 painted
lady butterflies
$29.95 each.
Hanging cages are hand made to order and decorated to match the theme of the wedding or other event. They must be hung from a garden shepherd's hook (not supplied) or other device. If you wish to display the butterflies for viewing before the release, this is the best option.

Hanging cages hold 25 to 50 Monarch or Florida native mixture butterflies.
50 to 100 Painted Lady butterflies.
Decorated cages are $34.95 (as pictured - decoration and trim will vary) and up depending on the requirements.
